Manners and rules in Oze

Ozegahara wetland has been formed more than 6000 years. It will take very long years to be recovered once they are broken. Please be sure not to pick up flowers or plants and not to break trees even you like them.

The followings are manners and rules to keep precious heritage to next generation.

Don't step in wetland
Oze has about 60km wooden road to preserve wetland. You are requested not to put tripod on the wetland to take pictures or not to put your foot on the wetland when you take a rest.

Don't pick up fauna and flora
Scientifically important many fauna and flora live in Oze. So Oze becomes special protection area of National Park and plants are designated as protected species. Oze has balanced by himself. So do not take anything from here even a falling leaf or a stick of dead branch.

All you bring in, all you bring out
Oze prohibits dumping rubbish. As Oze do not provide trash box, you are requested to bring back anything of trash.
This movement has been started from 1972. To preserve beauty of Oze, your cooperation is requested.

Don't bring in your pet
Your pet may attack wildlife or cause infection.

Protect from invading exotic plants
Clean bottom of your shoes before you come into entrance of Oze.
Seeds adhering to clothes or shoes may invade local plants.

Walk on the wooden road or footway
Wooden road has been made to protect wetland. Walk in right side and ascent is given priority over descent. No smoking is requested while you are walking.

The use of public restroom
Running purifying facility of public restroom in mountain area takes time and costs much. Please use bathroom tissue and taking care of facility cleaning.
The public restroom is set at Miharashi area, Hot spring area, Yamanohana area, Toden lodge area respectively. To keep this facility, the restrooms apply gratitude system. Your cooperation is highly appreciated.

Place to camp
Camp places are appointed in Oze. Don't camp except appointed places.
